As a director and officer of GHE Residential Projects, Inc., Benson manages the day to day operations of the California projects for Geoffrey H. Edmunds & Associates which presently includes The Plaza-Irvine and 3000 The Plaza. Benson also assists in the development of new project partnerships for Geoffrey H. Edmunds & Associates, Inc.

After completing his Civil Engineering and Economics studies in 1971 at the University of Arizona, Benson chose the homebuilding business as his career of choice. Benson’s homebuilding career spans over 34 years in various positions from project manager to president of his own homebuilding company for 10 years. Benson enjoys competing in the high-end residential market and in 1998 was awarded one of the homebuilding industry’s most coveted awards, The PCBC Gold Nugget, for a custom home. Benson has served on the Board of Directors of the Homebuilders Association of Central Arizona and served as the Association’s president in 1994. As a Director of the National Association of Home Builders for the State of Arizona, Benson struck a working and personal relationship with Geoffrey Edmunds several years prior to Benson’s employment by Geoffrey H. Edmunds & Associates, Inc.

Benson joined Geoffrey H. Edmunds & Associates in 1999 to help Edmunds enter into the high-rise condominium market. Esplanade Place would be the first high-rise condominium project completed by Geoffrey H. Edmunds & Associates in 2003 and lead to the Edmunds/Opus West partnership developing The Plaza-Irvine and 3000 The Plaza.
